“What’s up Cory? You do know what time it is right?” She asked irritated that he continued to call her before the birds even began to chirp.

“I don’t know what time it is in Chicago. My schedule so hectic with play offs coming up that this is really the only chance that I can call in private. I’ve been living in and out of hotel suites since the day we met. Slowly I’m getting settled in and will be able to talk more throughout the day. We practiced more before the playoff season, which is my purpose for calling you. I really want to see you. So when can we make that happen?”

“Let’s be clear Cory. I’m not some groupie bitch trying to ride your bus nor will I waste my time playing any games with you. You calling me at damn near 6’ o’clock in the morning talking about you want to see me. Let me guess. I’m supposed to be like I dreamed of Genie and blink twice and I’m there?” She questioned in a sarcastic manner. Even though he seemed to be genuine, Monica still felt as though he was just like the rest of the nothing ass men she kept running into. It was only a matter of time before the good guy persona fades away. She had seen it all too many times.

“I don’t fuck with groupies either Miss lady. I’m not looking for any extra passengers just one that can care for a nicca when all the fame fades. If I’m bothering you or something, I will stop calling. My intentions are only to get to know you and see where it leads us. We are grown right? If that’s not what you are looking for just tell me. It’s no pressure.”

“I can’t play too hard to get with him. He’s not like these clowns on the streets. I have to play my position. He’s far from broke so what did she have to lose? It’s time for me to step out again. What’s the worst that could happen with me on the arm of a NBA player? If this was Veronica’s guy, she’d be on his ass like white on rice” she thought to herself.

“Hello. Monica are you still there?” Cory questioned after a long period of silence. He was digging her but never enough to sweat no chick.

“I’m here. You don’t have to stop calling me, and I would like if we did get to know each other. I’m still a little apprehensive about dating since my last relationship. I’ve just been focusing on myself. Sorry if I came off rude.” Monica replied working her charm.

“It’s cool. I wasn’t giving up that easy anyway. I like what I saw and I’m willing to work for it. So what’s up? Will I see you next weekend?”

“I’m going to see what I can make happen. What day do you want me to fly into New York?” She quizzed blushing sitting on the sink in Robin’s bathroom.
